A friendly guide to parliamentary extemporaneous debate at Phillips Academy.

These videos are all very helpful for any people looking to advance their skills as a debater, but a decent number of them apply to a slightly different parliamentary format to the one we use. Keep that in mind when going through the videos / taking notes, as some information will be counterproductive or extraneous.
There are separate documents for novice-focused and advanced-focused videos, but you aren’t required to just look at one or the other— different topics will probably need to be brushed up on by different people. One could be an advanced level debater but still only have a novice level understanding of POIs.
Novice Resources:
Generalized Intro to Debate + Making Arguments:
Crash Course Intro to Deductive / Inductive / Abductive Reasoning:
POIs:
Note-taking/flowing debate rounds (skip to 1:00) (meant for policy debate but can be useful for parliamentary debate too):
Argument Building (this video is really slow and just shows ARE but without the IS, but good review):
